It should install, I have it running on an XP Professional computer
from Dell.

It sounds like there is a conflict with some software already installed
and running or hardware.

You need to be logged in as an administrator but you say you are, then
the next thing is to bring up the task box and shut down every thing
running except Explorer & Systray. You may need to try this in
Safe Mode if you can't get it to run in normal mode.

Incidentally my install was flawless first time. However my dell is as
generic as I could get it.

Another thing you might try to do is when you click on the set up icon
from the hard drive or CD you can right click on it and then you can
choose from one of the tabs to run this program imulating W98 or W2000,
try that.

I'm trying to install QuickBooks Pro 99 on a new Dell computer running
XP Professional.
When I click set-up, the install starts. When the screen reaches 100%
everything disappears. Then nothing happens at all. Nothing is running
in task manager. I tried a hard install (from the C drive.) I tried
installing in Safe mode both from the CD and the C drive.
I've installed from the setup.exe in the root directory and the disk1
directory. Every time the exact same result. I need to install this
version. Anyone have any ideas???
Many thanks in advance

A protection issue maybe? Are you Administrator or have Administrator
privileges? Just a WAG...

Yes. I am administrator

You might want to check on the Quicken site, but I have a vague
recollection that version 99 might not run on XP without some add'l
files, or at all, because it's programmed for earlier versions of
Windows.
